Washing and Polishing
There are two ways to wash Bio Diesel, these are outlined below:
WET WASH
This method is generally associated with small batch quantities of Bio Diesel
production, it requires the use of patience and gravity and is a way of producing
quality Bio Diesel at an affordable price.
It works by omitting a fine mist spray through a number of nozzles situated
above the Bio Diesel, as the water spreads across the surface of the oil it
sinks taking with it any impurities within the crude Bio Diesel. This is performed
over a 4 - 6 hour period, whereby there is a further 3 hour settling period
to let the water and impurities settle at the bottom. This is then drained
off and the whole process in then repeated once more until the Bio Diesel is
free from impurities and crystal clear in colour and content.
